Do you get 'more sick' if you catch something while on Enbrel? I have the cough and cold from hell at the moment, honestly feeling really rough. I've been on Enbrel a couple of months now and wondered if I was feeling so bad because of that, or am I just unlucky? Don't think I have a temp, just a horrible chesty cough and a rotten head cold. Also, I am due to do my injection again tomorrow, should I maybe wait til I am feeling better? Will doing the injection make me feel worse? Thank you. Kim.

Don't know about the specifics of Enbrel, but all the drugs are auto immune system suppressants so we can expect to get more infections and for them to be harder to get rid of.

Thank you Paul, that's what I thought. Thanks for taking the time to confirm this for me. Much appreciated. Kim.

Hope you start to feel better soon Kim. When I started on Enbrel I was told to check out any symptoms that didn't get better after a couple of days. I did have a terrible chest infection last year and I had never suffered with my chest before. Sadly, all the immuno-suppressant drugs can make us catch more illnesses and suffer worse with them than normal. If you are still bad today I would ring your out of hours surgery and definitely don't take Enbrel til you get the go-ahead.

Hoping you start to feel better soon, Ailsa

Hi Kim

Definately no injection of Enbrel until that infection has cleared!!

I was on enbrel for 8 years and did pick up lots of chesty infections. The worst was when a virus developed into pleurisy in 2011. My advice would be to get that cough looked at by the GP, you may need some antibiotics if it's gone into a chest infection. Do not under estimate any infection on anti-tnf drugs, they can turn nasty quite quickly.

Hope you feel better soon.

take it easy
Rebecca
